Abstract

The history of phenomenology in Czech republic and Slovakia goes back to the time of old Austro-Hungarian monarchy when Edmund Husserl was born in what is nowadays Prostějov in Moravia. When he became a German professor, he did not forget his old homeland, manifesting serious fears about its fate, particularly on the eve of the signing of the Munich Pact. And among Czech philosophers of period between the two World Wars, when from 1934 to 1939 Prague was the world capital of the Husserlian phenomenology banned in Hitler’s Germany, there is nobody who would not have been influenced by him.
