Abstract
In the third chapter, the economic impact of the disease has been assessed. In addition to the overt loss in yield by converting the panicles in to unproductive malformed ones or by killing rootstock or planting materials, it inflicts many covert economic damages that usually escape the attention. All these aspects have been dealt with in this chapter.
