Abstract
Qualitative spatial reasoning is concerned with the qualitative aspects of representation and reasoning about spatial entities as opposed to one-dimensional situations. It aims to express non-numerical relationships among spatial regions. The basic concepts in most of these theories are ‘part of’ and ‘connection’ relations which are the typical examples of a more general notion of a ‘contact’ relation.
