Abstract
Condensed matter physics is a rich and diverse field; to understand most phenomena, several different techniques need to be applied and with different levels of sophistication. The subject can be approached by looking at different phenomena and learning the techniques that are relevant in that particular area, or by learning a few general techniques that are usually applicable to most phenomena.
