Abstract

In this chapter, we shall define the hyperoctahedral group of type D n which is a subgroup of B n of index 2 (8.1.0) and follow the outlay of Chapter 6 replacing A n by D n and S n by B n to determine all (ordinary) irreducible representations of D n . The considerations for the case of (B n , D n ) are similar to (S n , A n ) and so we need only to set the notation and state the results. (Cf. [37], [48], etc.)
