Abstract

In this chapter, we shall study an important technique due to Frobenius, called “inducing representations” from subgroups, which enables one to construct representations of a group G in terms of those of its subgroups H. Decomposing induced representations is not an easy problem, yet it is one of the most powerful methods for constructing irreducible representations of finite groups.
