Abstract
This chapter sets out a general introduction to the present EU Treaties framework governing relations between the EU and Member State territories including key developments leading up to the adoption of the Lisbon Treaty provisions. The scope of this book is clarified, including territories concerned, main objectives, methodology used, structure and content of publication. Finally, an overview of the currently applicable EU Treaties provisions is provided.
