Abstract

A quantum Langevin equation for the dynamics of a local spin embedded in a tunnel junction is derived. Under non-equilibrium conditions the dynamics is considered on the Keldysh contour. Several issues regarding the properties of the leads and their influence on the local spin dynamics are discussed.
