Collegiality: The Contemporary Challenges



The previous chapter outlined some of the characteristics of collegiality. An ideal-type model was not constructed, as the purpose was to show that collegiality could assume different, if overlapping, forms (for Weber’s interesting interpretation of the origins of collegial authority, see Weber, 1964: 392–407). However, we have in the process created the difficult problem of how to define the boundaries of collegiality.
