Abstract

This chapter discusses conflict with law in childhood and tertiary prevention with reference to:

1. Concepts, types and causes of conflict with law in childhood;

2. Review of the retributive justice approach to children;

3. Child rights in the juvenile justice system;

4. Child advocacy intervention for restorative justice to children in conflict with law, through prevention, decriminalisation, community-based diversion, victim–offender mediation, regulating detention, and reintegration and rehabilitation aiming at tertiary prevention.
