Abstract
It is appropriate to begin the textbook on robotics with the definition of the industrial robot manipulator as given by the ISO 8373 standard. An industrial robot manipulator is a feedback controlled, reprogrammable, multipurpose system. It is programmable in three or more degrees of reedom. Robot manipulators are used in processes of industrial automation.
