Abstract
Global educators in the USA have come to a realization that many students at the secondary level are not developing global perspectives needed to compete in the global economy, and are lacking in the values that are critical to making the world safer politically, economically, and ecologically. The chapter builds on Merry Merryfield’s call to move beyond the global education that was conceived after World War II and in the Cold War for citizenship education to a global education for a world defined by global terrorism and environmental degradation. Indeed, if global education is to be truly global, the field of global education must develop a new framework for a new reality.
