Abstract
Though recreation activities exert a rather limited influence on the environment in comparison to other sectors like industry and agriculture, in planning more attention should be paid to their environmental impacts (particularly on topographic conditions). This impact on the relief can be manifold. The establishment of ski-trails starts with deforestation and continues by bulldozing or blasting for levelling the landscape. Waterside environments are also popular scenes for tourism and sports. Finally, the impacts of golfing, motor sports, hiking (camping, rock collecting, etc.) are also mentioned with examples.
