Abstract
The definition of relevant boundary conditions for compressible large-eddy simulation is another very difficult issue, much more complex than its counterpart in LES for incompressible flows. The additional difficulty originates in that fact that boundary conditions must provide an information on all resolved scales of motion taking into account that the three Kovasznay modes exist at all scales, and that different conditions should be applied on each of the modes. This dual decomposition in terms of scales and Kovasznay modes renders the problem so difficult that only partially relevant, case-specific solutions have been proposed up to now.
