Samenvatting

Antisociale persoonlijkheidsstoornis en antisociaal gedrag, zoals het plegen van delicten, gaan vaak samen met problematisch middelengebruik. Middelengebruik en delictgedrag kunnen op verschillende manieren aan elkaar gerelateerd zijn. Wanneer een cliënt in behandeling komt vanwege antisociaal gedrag en er is tevens sprake van middelengebruik, dan is een analyse nodig van de aard van de relatie tussen deze variabelen. Op basis hiervan wordt een individueel behandelplan opgesteld met als belangrijkste aandachtspunt of het al dan niet noodzakelijk is het middelengebruik te behandelen om het delictgedrag te doen stoppen. Wanneer besloten is middelengebruik te behandelen, is een eerste stap de cliënt te motiveren dit behandeldoel na te streven. Vervolgens kan verslavingsbehandeling het beste plaatsvinden door cognitieve gedragstherapie. Een en ander illustreren we in dit hoofdstuk met voorbeelden van dialogen tussen behandelaar en cliënt.
