Samenvatting
Geneesmiddelen kunnen elkaars werking op farmacodynamische en farmacokinetische wijze beïnvloeden: in het eerste geval is er bijv. sprake van competitie voor dezelfde receptor (naloxon en morfine), effecten op hetzelfde orgaan (alcohol en benzodiazepinen) of orgaansysteem (epinefrine en histamine) of effecten op verwante enzymsystemen (trimethoprim en sulfamethoxazol) of ionenkanalen (QTc-verlenging door verschillende geneesmiddelen); in het tweede geval betreft het remming of versterking van de absorptie, distributie, metabolisme en/of eliminatie van het ene geneesmiddel door het andere geneesmiddel (bijv. methotrexaat en cotrimoxazol, trimethoprim of prostaglandinesyntheseremmers).
