Samenvatting

Zorgprofessionals willen niets liever dan goede zorg leveren. Wat ‘goed(e) zorg verlenen’ behelst wordt in dit hoofdstuk geïntroduceerd aan de hand van professionele waarden, persoonlijk leiderschap en de drie pijlers van professional performance: excellentie, medemenselijkheid en rekenschap. Ondanks alle goede bedoelingen is de ervaring dat zorgverleners in de praktijk niet altijd naar hun beste kunnen functioneren en presteren. Hebben zij last van de in dit hoofdstuk beschreven tegenkrachten van verzakelijking, versnelling en verharding? En zo ja, zijn zorgprofessionals hiervan dan slachtoffer of kunnen zij desondanks regie houden op het bieden van goede zorg?
