Een meisje van 6 maanden oud wordt verwezen naar de kinderneuroloog wegens sinds enkele dagen bestaande aanvallen van reeksen van tonische verstijvingen van de armen met naar voren buigen van het hoofd en wegdraaien van de ogen. De psychomotore ontwikkeling van het meisje was tot dan toe normaal, hoewel zij de laatste weken achteraf wat minder alert was.
