Samenvatting
De Nederlandse Liga tegen Epilepsie is de vereniging van professionals in de epilepsiezorg, heeft de status van werkgroep binnen de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Neurologie en is onderdeel van de International League Against Epilepsy (ilae). De ilae Commission on Classification and Terminology doet al jaren moeite om de iLAE-aanvalstypeclassificatie uit 1981 en de epilepsiesydnroomclassificatie uit 1989 te herzien. Zolang er onvoldoende wetenschappelijke basis ligt voor een nieuwe classificatie spreekt de ilae over de ‘organisatie’ van de epilepsieën en blijven de oude classificaties formeel van kracht.
