De aanvullende schalen van de MMPI-2 helpen de diagnosticus de interpretaties te verfijnen en te verdiepen. In dit hoofdstuk staat een uiteenzetting van de diverse scoreconfiguraties van de validiteits-, sub-, inhouds- en een aantal supplementaire schalen. Met name van belang is de presentatie van nieuwe inzichten hierin. Klinische evidentie heeft hieraan de grootste bijdrage geleverd. Dit brengt een forse verhoging van de klinisch toegevoegde waarde van de MMPI-2 met zich mee.
