Samenvatting
Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) wordt steeds vaker gebruikt in de orthodontie, ofwel om de conventionele röntgenopnamen te vervangen ofwel als toevoeging. Het is echter belangrijk dat met de stralingsdosis rekening wordt gehouden, temeer daar het om een meestal jonge patiëntenpopulatie gaat. In dit onderzoek werd een menselijk kadaver gebruikt in het Accuitomo 170 (Morita®) CBCT-apparaat. In totaal werden er 24 verschillende opnamen gemaakt, met verschillende bestralingsparameters (combinaties van drie verschillende ampèrages, vier verschillende voltages en twee verschillende tijden). De geanonimiseerde scans werden vervolgens gestandaardiseerd en door tien orthodontisten onafhankelijk beoordeeld op verschillende orthodontische meetpunten. Uit de resultaten bleek dat de stralinsgdosis gemakkelijk gehalveerd kan worden voor orthodontische doeleinden, door middel van het halveren van de bestralingstijd of door het halveren van het milliampèrage, zonder dat dit significante invloed had op de gemeten referentiepunten. Met andere woorden, de stralingsdosis kan, voor beelden die voor orthodontische doeleinden worden gemaakt, gemakkelijk gehalveerd worden met de Accuitomo 170 (Morita®).
