Orthodontische diagnostiek en behandeling van OSAS bij kinderen

Samenvatting

Bij de diagnostiek van OSAS bij kinderen kunnen tandartsen en tandarts-specialisten een rol spelen. Bij verdenking van OSAS kan in de anamnese worden nagegaan of er sprake is van symptomen die met deze slaapaandoening in verband worden gebracht. Ook kan door middel van extra- en intraoraal onderzoek worden gekeken of er aanwijzingen voor OSAS zijn. Verder zijn er cefalometrische kenmerken die op OSAS kunnen duiden. Op basis van deze kenmerken en de anamnestische en klinische symptomen kunnen kinderen voor verdere diagnostiek naar de aanwezigheid van OSAS verwezen worden.
