Samenvatting

Gordelroos (herpes zoster) is de secundaire manifestatie van een eerdere infectie met het varicellazostervirus in een of meer dermatomen. Karakteristiek is de eenzijdige, dermatoomgebonden huiduitslag, gekenmerkt door gegroepeerde blaasjes en erytheem. Bij oudere patiënten staat vaak pijn op de voorgrond; bij kinderen is dit echter zelden het geval. De aandoening wordt ‘gordelroos’ genoemd omdat de uitslag vaak rond het middel zit.
