Samenvatting

Als gevolg van niet-aangeboren hersenletsel (nah) kunnen motorische stoornissen ontstaan in houding en beweging door inadequate aansturing van (houdings)-spieren of het optreden van onwillekeurige spieractiveringen. Voor het uitvoeren van normale motoriek is het nodig dat er een voortdurende interactie kan plaatsvinden tussen verschillende systemen in de hersenen, zoals de premotorische en supplementaire motorische cortex in de frontale kwab, de primair motorische schors, de postcentrale schors, de basale ganglia, de hersenstam en het cerebellum. Ook moeten deze systemen via efferente baansystemen kunnen communiceren met motorische systemen in het ruggenmerg.
