Samenvatting

De normale nagel ontstaat door een continue inbouw van uitrijpende cellen (keratinocyten), afkomstig van de nagelmatrix, in de nagelplaat. De hardheid van de nagel is het gevolg van een hoog gehalte aan speciale harde keratines met een hoog zwavelgehalte.
