Samenvatting

De ouders of verzorgers van de jongeren met chronische pijn worden nauw betrokken bij de behandeling van hun kind. Enerzijds gebeurt dit tijdens de behandelsessies van hun kind. Anderzijds is dit apart van hun kind, tijdens het ouderprogramma Tips voor het Omgaan met Pijn (TOP) dat in de avonduren wordt gegeven. Het TOP-programma is wetenschappelijk onderbouwd en bestaat uit drie sessies, gegeven door de bij de behandeling betrokken therapeuten. Tijdens de interactieve sessies worden wetenschappelijke inzichten gegeven in (1) pijn en de factoren die van invloed zijn op de pijn en de beperkingen, (2) de invloed van het gezin op de instandhouding van de pijn en (3) terugvalpreventie en tips voor het dagelijkse leven. Het (interpersoonlijke) vreesvermijdingsmodel vormt de rode draad in de begeleiding van de ouders.
