Cellulitis en erysipelas zijn acute bacteriële ontstekingen van de huid en het subcutane weefsel, die worden gekenmerkt door een zich snel uitbreidende, warme, pijnlijke en verheven oedemateuze roodheid, meestal aan de onderste extremiteiten of in het gelaat.
