Samenvatting

Anaal bloedverlies is een veelvoorkomend symptoom in de bevolking en slechts een klein deel bezoekt hiervoor de huisarts. Toch kan de oorzaak van anaal bloedverlies ernstig zijn, zoals een colorectaal carcinoom of een inflammatoire darmziekte. Vaak is de oorzaak minder ernstig, zoals hemorroïden of fissuren. Deze kunnen wel zoveel ongemak veroorzaken dat de patiënt behandeling wil. Het is de taak van de huisarts om een goede risico-inschatting te maken om zo te bepalen hoeveel diagnostiek nodig is om de oorzaak te achterhalen.
