Botvervangers: wat gebruik ik waar?

Samenvatting

In de tandheelkundige en MKA-chirurgische praktijk wordt er veelvuldig gebruikgemaakt van botvervangers om botdefecten te reconstrueren. Het biologisch gedrag en de fysisch-chemische eigenschappen van diverse veelgebruikte botvervangers worden in dit artikel besproken. Niet alleen de eigenschappen van de botvervanger zijn echter van belang voor het reconstrueren van een botdefect. Ook dient de clinicus rekening te houden met de kwalitatieve eigenschappen van het te reconstrueren botdefect en op basis hiervan de juiste botvervanger te kiezen. Dehalve wordt er eveneens stilgestaan bij de diverse eigenschappen van de acceptorregio.
