Samenvatting
Gastro-intestinale stromaceltumoren (GIST) zijn zeldzame, niet-epitheliale mesenchymale tumoren van de tractus digestivus.
De tumorcellen zijn meestal ontstaan als gevolg van een ‘single-hit’ C-kit of PDGFR-alfa proto-oncogenmutatie in de mesenchymale stamcel van Cajal, waardoor een ongeremde groeistimulatie veroorzaakt wordt.
