Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt besproken hoe de diagnose jicht kan worden gesteld, welke plaats de jichtcalculator heeft en waaruit de aanvalscouperende behandeling bestaat (met non-steroïdale anti-inflammatoire ‘drugs’ (NSAID’s), colchicine of glucocorticoïden, dan wel interleukine-1-blokkers) en de profylactische behandeling (colchicine of laaggedoseerd prednison) bij uraatverlagende therapie. Tevens wordt ingegaan op de uraatverlagende behandeling om jichtproblematiek op langere termijn te voorkomen. Daarnaast worden calciumpyrofosfaat (CPP)- artritis, vroeger ook wel pseudojicht genoemd, besproken.
