Inleiding

Het endometriumcarcinoom is de meest voorkomende maligniteit van de vrouwelijke geslachtsorganen. De incidentie is het laatste decennium langzaam toegenomen; de aandoening komt het meest voor bij postmenopauzale vrouwen.1 In Nederland wordt de diagnose ieder jaar ongeveer 1900 keer gesteld, wat betekent dat een huisarts in een normpraktijk eens in de drie jaar een patiënte met een endometriumcarcinoom ziet. Jaarlijks overlijden zo’n 425 patiënten aan de gevolgen van de ziekte.
