Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt stilgestaan bij depressie en manie als extreme uitingen van het brede spectrum van stemmingsstoornissen. De focus ligt op ernst, aard en etiologie van cognitieve stoornissen bij depressieve en bipolaire stemmingsstoornissen. Er wordt ingegaan op consequenties voor het dagelijkse leven van cliënten, zowel vanuit theorie als praktijk. Door middel van casuïstiek wordt geïllustreerd hoe cognitieve beperkingen kunnen worden onderzocht bij een cliënt met een bipolaire stoornis. De lezer wordt hierin meegenomen en kan het proces van neuropsychologische diagnostiek op praktische wijze volgen. Ten slotte richt de aandacht zich op de mogelijke neuropsychologische behandeladviezen, die zich bij de cliënten met een stemmingsstoornis nog in de experimentele fase bevinden.
