Inleiding
Lokaal anesthetica zijn de meest gebruikte farmaca binnen de tandheelkunde. Indien gebruikt in de aanbevolen doseringen, interfereren zij normaal gesproken reversibel met de totstandkoming van de actiepotentiaal en met de cellulaire impulsgeleiding door een blokkade in de zenuwcel van de natriumkanalen. Hierdoor ontstaat plaatselijk een ongevoeligheid voor pijnprikkels.
