Inleiding
Antiaritmische medicamenteuze therapie is de hoeksteen van de behandeling van ritmestoornissen. Alle antiaritmica beïnvloeden een of meer ionkanalen of receptoren in het hart. Het gevolg is vertraging van de geleidingssnelheid, verlenging van de effectieve refractaire periode (ERP, de tijd waarin na activatie een cel tijdelijk niet prikkelbaar is), of vermindering van normale of abnormale prikkelvorming. Deze effecten zijn de basis van de antiaritmische werking van deze medicijnen, maar ook van hun proaritmische werking.
