De prevalentie van aangeboren hartafwijkingen is 0,8% van alle levend geboren kinderen. Andere hartafwijkingen die bij kinderen voorkomen zijn endocarditis, pericarditis, myocarditis, cardiomyopathie, coronaire afwijkingen bij de ziekte van Kawasaki en ritmestoornissen.
