Abstract

De menselijke benige schedel speelt een belangrijke rol bij het uiterlijk voorkomen van de mens en zijn normale functioneren. Fracturen van de schedel kunnen leiden tot ademhalingsproblemen, uitval van de kauwfunctie en het spreken, wat een duidelijk negatieve weerslag heeft op het psychosociaal welzijn van de mens. Stoornissen in gezichts-, gehoor- en reukfunctie gaan relatief vaak samen met sensorische uitvalsverschijnselen.
