Een ‘compartiment’ is de ruimte waarbinnen één of meerdere spieren gelegen zijn; het compartiment wordt omsloten door de spierfascie en eventueel door bot.

Vaak gebruikt men de Engelse term ‘compartmentsyndroom’ of ‘logesyndroom’. In dit artikel wordt de Nederlandse term ‘compartiment’ gebruikt.
