Excentrische spierversterking heeft een gunstig effect op de kwaliteit van gedegenereerd peesweefsel. Dit geldt in het bijzonder voor de achillespees, maar vermoedelijk is de methode ook werkzaam bij andere lokalisaties. Het is nog niet duidelijk op welke manier men het snelst tot een goed resultaat kan komen. In publicaties waarin het effect van training op de achillespees wordt beschreven is steeds de volgende trainingsformule gebruikt.
