Samenvatting
» Een centraal doel binnen de revalidatie is het optimaliseren van vaardigheden van patiënten. Leren en onderwijzen zijn essentiële elementen in dit verband, maar roepen belangrijke vragen op: wat weten behandelaars van leren en onderwijzen, wat doen ze ermee tijdens hun behandelingen en wat hebben ze nodig? In dit hoofdstuk worden deze vragen besproken en wordt het concept ‘leerstijlen’ geïntroduceerd. Het leerstijlenconcept wordt in toenemende mate gebruikt in het onderwijs en in de sport, maar is nog relatief nieuw op het terrein van de revalidatie. Het concept kan voordelen hebben voor zowel patiënten als hun behandelaars. Het biedt namelijk de mogelijkheid om onderwijsstrategieën goed af te stemmen op individuele patiënten. Als gevolg hiervan kunnen leerprocessen efficiënter verlopen en kunnen behandelingen effectiever zijn. Het leerstijlenconcept is echter niet alleen theoretisch interessant. Het heeft volgens behandelaars ook klinisch meerwaarde. Dit laatste wordt toegelicht aan de hand van een kwalitatief onderzoek onder Nederlandse kinderfysiotherapeuten die kinderen en adolescenten met cerebrale parese behandelen.
