Samenvatting
Chronische obstructieve longziekten (COPD) zullen de komende jaren steeds vaker voorkomen in Nederland. Voor deze chronische progressieve ziekten bestaat tot op heden nog geen genezende behandeling. Stoppen met roken is de enige interventie die verlies van de longfunctie kan afremmen. Patiënten ondervinden veel hinder van de symptomen, zoals kortademigheid, hoesten en beperking van het inspanningsvermogen. Dit resulteert in verlies van kwaliteit van leven. Naast farmacologische therapie heeft fysiotherapie een belangrijke rol in het verminderen van de symptomen, waardoor het leven met de ziekte draaglijker wordt. Om COPD goed onder controle te krijgen, is afstemming tussen de disciplines noodzakelijk. Multidisciplinaire zorg in samenspraak met de patiënt kan een positieve bijdrage leveren aan het controleren van deze aandoening.
