3a Addendum: de sleeve-fractuur van de patella

Samenvatting

Ossificatie van de patella begint in het derde levensjaar.[1] Gewoonlijk ontstaan er multipele ossificatiecentra in het nog groeiende kraakbeenweefsel. Geleidelijk fuseren deze centra tot een grotere botkern. De patella verbeent vervolgens van centraal naar perifeer. Als de ossificatie vrijwel compleet is, resteert een relatief zwakke rand van groeiend kraakbeen rondom de knieschijf (figuur 3a-1A).[2] Aanhechtingen van ligamenten en pezen vinden dan plaats aan groeiend kraakbeenweefsel.
