Abstract
In dit hoofdstuk brengen we het begrip‘communities of practice’ in verband met sociale leeractiviteiten in netwerken gericht op de ontwikkeling van sociaal kapitaal in organisaties. De introductie van de term ‘communities of practice’ (CoP) heeft wereldwijd een groot effect gehad op het denken over en faciliteren van leren in organisaties. Vele organisaties hebben al dan niet succesvol met CoP's geëxperimenteerd. De vraag wanneer een groep professionals al dan niet een CoP is, wordt veelvuldig gesteld, enhrd -managers zijn op zoek naar een set van principes aan de hand waarvan CoP's opgericht en geëvalueerd kunnen worden. Omdat CoP's vele verschijningsvormen kennen, is er veel ruis rondom dit begrip ontstaan. In dit hoofdstuk staan we daarom uitgebreid stil bij het CoP-perspectief, en wordt de relatie met de ontwikkeling van sociaal kapitaal in organisaties verkend. Een belangrijk begrip in opkomst hierbij is ‘netwerkleren’.
