Inleiding

Maagklachten komen zeer frequent voor met een geschatte prevalentie van 10–40%, waarbij gemiddeld één op de vier patiënten in verband met deze klachten de huisarts consulteert. De jaarlijkse incidentie van maagklachten bij de huisarts is ongeveer 30 per 1000 patiënten.
