Abstract

Voedselallergie komt wereldwijd voor. Daarbij zijn pinda en noten verantwoordelijk voor de meeste ernstige reacties op voedsel. Fatale reacties zijn zeldzaam, maar komen wel voor. De prevalentie van voedselallergie in de westerse wereld wordt geschat op ongeveer 1-2% bij volwassenen en 2-3% bij kinderen. Overigens denkt een veel groter percentage van de bevolking, namelijk wel 12-25% een voedselallergie te hebben.
