Het doel van de verloskundige zorg is over de hele wereld hetzelfde: de geboorte van een gezond kind uit een gezonde moeder. De omstandigheden waaronder dit proces zich voltrekt, variëren echter aanzienlijk in verschillende delen van de wereld.
