12 Geriatrische incontinentie

Samenvatting

Bij geriatrische incontinentie is er ongewild verlies van urine of ontlasting bij ouderen die met moeite (niet binnen 5 minuten) of alleen met hulp van een toilet gebruik kunnen maken. Als er zowel urine- als ontlastingincontinentie is, spreken we van dubbele incontinentie . Deze ouderen hebben mobiliteitsen/ of cognitieproblemen, diverse chronische ziekten en polyfarmacie. Soms zijn er ook problemen met de werking van blaas, endeldarm of sluitspieren. Sommige van deze ouderen zijn afhankelijk van mantelzorgers of professionele zorg.
