Abstract

De dissociatieve stoornis NAO maakt samen met de dissociatieve identiteitsstoornis , de dissociatieve amnesie , de dissociatieve fugue , en de depersonalisatiestoornis deel uit van de dissociatieve stoornissen zoals die worden beschreven in het Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR; American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Wat deze aandoeningen met elkaar gemeen hebben – althans volgens de officiële richtlijnen van de DSM-IV-TR – is dat het bewustzijn, het geheugen, de identiteit en de waarneming uit de pas lopen en ontregeld zijn. Dit zou zich dan uiten in klachten als derealisatie, depersonalisatie, amnesie en identiteitsverwarring.
