Abstract
Hier is een patiënte met een borderline persoonlijkheidsstoornis (BPS ) aan het woord. Duidelijk is dat zij nogal extreme uitspraken doet. Extreme ideeën en gevoelens over anderen en over zichzelf zijn een opvallend diagnostisch kenmerk van BPS. In DSM-IV (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 1994) wordt dit als volgt verwoord: ‘Een patroon van instabiele en intense relaties met anderen, gekenmerkt door wisselingen tussen overmatig idealiseren en kleineren.’
