6 Het opstellen van een behandelplan voor een frameprothese

Samenvatting

● Als vervanging van gebitselementen door een prothetische constructie wordt overwogen, is een behandelplan nodig. Bij de beoordeling of vervanging van gebitselementen zinvol is, worden de oorzaken en de gevolgen van het verlies van de gebitselementen geanalyseerd. Dit betreft informatie over patiëntgerelateerde problemen, complicerende factoren, zuiver prothetische problemen en specifieke problemen. Patiëntgerelateerde problemen worden verzameld via anamnese, klinisch onderzoek en röntgenonderzoek. Complicerende factoren zijn risicofactoren die de prognose van de algehele gezondheid of van een behandeling negatief beïnvloeden. Ze worden eerst zo goed mogelijk geëlimineerd in een voorbereidende behandeling. Zuiver prothetische problemen liggen op het vlak van het ontbreken van gebitselementen of delen daarvan en op het vlak van de occlusale en mandibulaire stabiliteit en de articulatie. Specifieke problemen kunnen zich voordoen met de interocclusale ruimte en het aantal, de verdeling en de kwaliteit van de pijlerelementen. Een frameprothese kan tegen relatief lage kosten een beperkt invasief alternatief bieden voor een gecompliceerde en dure prothetische behandeling met één of meer vaste constructies.
